We will be honoring Sherwood and Vada Lee for the many years they served as missionaries in Cote d’Ivoire and in our state as faithful leaders. Our scripture theme is from Joel 1:3, “Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.” Bro. Sherwood was privileged to return to Cote d’Ivoire last spring and he was able to witness the many changes that have occurred since he left the mission work to return to SC.

Hotel Accommodations are: Comfort Inn and Suites, ($89), 154 Candlenut Lane, Spartanburg, SC, 29316, 864-814-2001 (mention Turning Point Church Rate). South Carolina has several students who have been accepted to serve this coming summer in different mission stations. An offering will be taken to help these students with their financial goals. We want to always be supportive of investing in the lives of the young people in our state as they seek to follow the Lord in these areas of service.

The SC WAC Retreat will be held September 7th and 8th at White Oak Conference Center in Winnsboro. Kristi Johnson will be our guest speaker and we have an exciting time planned for our ladies. We will have a ‘gift card shower’ for their family at the retreat. Gift cards may be purchased at Walmart, Target, and Restaurants. These will be greatly appreciated by the Johnson’s as they are home and will benefit them with their needs as Alejandro will be a freshman at Welch College this coming fall. Mark your calendars to attend the retreat and more information will be available at the state women’s meeting.

WMO Sunday is April 29th

Andy Moore (Brazil)  This November, our church celebrated 8 years of ministry here in Juiz de Fora, Brazil. Please pray for God´s power on the service and for the continuing ministry here in this spiritually needy city of over 550,000 souls. –Andy Moore and family

Bobby Poole (Brazil) we are in our summer vacation time here in Brasil, so we are having a Mini VBS of 3 days. The interest and response for workers has been a great blessing. We have 15 people signed up to work during the VBS. Being summer time, some of these are on vacation, and thereby, able to help. We have two names, that I keep hearing from our people, about possibly becoming our pastor, taking my place. Continue to pray. Also during the Carnaval week-end, the First Church is promoting its 45th Family Retreat. Geneva and I started this 45 years ago. The dates are Feb. 10-13.

Carlisle Hanna (India) “Pastor Evan Guha’s wife was admitted to the hospital with a very high blood pressure and elevated blood sugar level. She was expecting and they did a c-section. Complications have developed for her and she has had two surgeries since to relieve swelling on the brain, she is currently listed as critical. The baby is fine. We are asking everyone to pray.”

Please remember Bro. Carlisle as he is currently in India. Also please be much in prayer for the upcoming Conference as an estimated 10,000 people plus will be attending!

David Aycock  (Brazil) Two people have come to Christ since the beginning of the year. Flavio is a realtor and Danielle is in the Brazilian Air Force. Please for their spiritual growth and that they will have courage to stand for Him among their family members and friends. Our second daughter Breeana and her husband, JD (the Webbs) have been cleared to arrive the first of May to work in the Barbacena area. Pray for them as they make preparations. We are happy to announce that we have restarted the construction of the Christian School. We hope to finish the building in August (2018) and start the Brazilian school year in February of 2019.  We need $70,000 to finish this project.  Would you pray that God would meet this need? Would you consider giving a special offering for this cause?

Jonathan/Amy Postlewaite- Thank you for praying for our monthly “gathering” which we hosted last Sunday. We were very pleased with the turnout of 13 people – not including our family. Everyone who was there, both the Christians and the non-Christians, seemed to really be impacted by the discussion about the Sermon on the Mount. There were several positive comments about the meeting and about the atmosphere of fellowship. Please pray that we will be able to stay connected to the new people who came and that people will invite their friends and family members to come next time. Pray for Mr. I and Mrs G – an unsaved couple who attended with their two kids on Sunday. This is the third time they’ve come and they truly seem to enjoy being there. On Sunday Mrs. G told Amy that she had followed a link to a Bible app that we had posted on Facebook and had spent part of the weekend reading it. Please pray that God will use our relationship with them and His Word to lead them to a saving knowledge of His son Jesus Christ. Over the weekend we will be traveling to Varna, a city on the Black Sea Coast where we have a FWB church, for a time of fellowship and planning with our teammates. Please pray for safety of travel, that God would grant us wisdom in our planning, and that we would be encouraged by the time of fellowship.

Matt/Hailie Deckard (Ecuador) Greetings from Sunny or Rainy (depending upon the time of day) Ecuador. We want to first say thank you all for praying for us as we are in language school!  The Lord certainly is blessing here as we continue our time in full time study! He is also opening doors for us to share with our language teachers as well. Just this week I, Matt, have had the opportunity to talk with my professor about the church, persecution, and various other topics in the New Testament. Also, next week we, along with two teammates also in language school, have the opportunity to have our professors in our home for Thanksgiving to share this wonderful part of our culture with them. Please pray that God would produce fruit from these opportunities. mattdeckard.10@gmail.com

Neil/ Mandi Morgan (Spain) We have started traveling to churches to share about the wonderful things God is doing in Spain. Please pray for us as we travel, for our services, and for the provision of the monthly support we need to return to the field. Please also continue to pray for the sale of our present church building and the Esperanza church as it begins to look for a larger building for the growing congregation.

Randy/Kris Valandingham (Aiken).  Pray for them as they continue to minister in Aiken.

Tim/ Kristi Johnson (Spain) Thanks for your prayers for several important meetings we had last week.  We are thankful for God’s direction in our team, the Alpedrete church members, and in those who share in the leadership of the church.  We are excited that several people are going to begin discipleship classes soon.  Pray that the Word will take root and grow in their hearts.

Mirial Gainer (Japan) Please remember her as she is at home recovering from a small stroke she had recently.

* Sister Faye Miles (Wife of Rev. Tony Miles) Please remember Sis Faye and Bro. Tony as doctors have ceased her cancer treatments. Ask God to give them grace and strength for the days ahead of them.

WOW That’s Heavy!!!

I recently listened to Ron Hutchcraft describe a situation where he had to move a piano. Right off the bat he knew he would need help. Despite being what he considered a strong man he knew that he would not be able to lift the piano on his own. He also remembered his own father needing surgery after helping someone move a piano. Gone were any prideful ambitions about lifting this piano himself. After help arrived and the piano was moved he came to the following conclusion. This heavy burden was not meant to be carried alone…

Let that sink in a minute. Some burdens are meant to be shared by others. Are you struggling under the weight of something too heavy for you to carry? The scriptures provide two valuable instructions for the burden bearer.

  1. Give it to him
    1. Mt 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
  2. Share it with others.
    1. Ga 6:2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

You have a friend at the State Office if you need a little burden bearing.
