SCFWB Disaster Response News
Many of our churches are coordinating currently with The SCFWB Disaster Relief board by helping victims of the hurricane and flooding, by donating funds, supplies, and volunteering for services. Thanks to everyone for helping during this time!
2019 Couples Retreat
Will be held again at Beach Cove Resort, 4800 S. Ocean Blvd., North Myrtle Beach, SC. The dates are February 15-16, 2019. Our speaker, again this year, is Bro. Jim McComas. He will be singing and sharing his heart with us. His messages in Word and song will be a blessing. We hope to have some bluegrass music this year and some special surprises! $180 for “early-bird-pay-in-full” payment. Otherwise, the cost is $190, with the deposit of $140 due when the names are sent in, and the remaining $50 due upon check in. Also, Pastor, if you have at least FIVE other couples coming from your church, then you and your wife can come for $150. We will need the money and names sent in by Friday, December 14, 2018. Please have your couples make the checks out to “Donnie Miles”.
Andy Moore (Brazil) The ministry in Juiz de Fora, Brazil continues to progress. In July, we had V.B.S. and two teens from our church got saved at youth camp. Currently, our family is in the U.S. and will be here through Christmas. We are reconnecting with our churches, while our kids attend Christian school for a semester. In our absence the associate pastor, Luiz Carlos, is leading the church and its ministries.
Bobby Poole (Brazil) Is Celebrating his first Great Grandaughter Luiza who is 10 months old and likes “Corn”. She is full of energy!
Carlisle Hanna (India) Please remember Bro. Don Hanna as he leaves for India today. He and Brother Carlisle will return to the US on November 20th. Please remember him in his travels and ministry. Please remember the works in North & South India as well as Nepal.
David Aycock (Brazil) We are gearing up for Christmas activities and presentations. Materials are not always readily available so we normally have to write or translate our Christmas plays. These are opportunities to have new people to attend our special activities. Our Seminary classes are going well and we plan to finish the beginning of December. We are offering membership classes for those who were recently baptized. Thank you South Carolina for your prayers and financial support.
Jonathan/Amy Postlewaite This Sunday November 25th we will be hosting our monthly “gathering”. We are continuing our series “7 Stories of Hope” with a look at the woman at the well in John 4. Please be praying that we will have a good turnout. Pray that the Christians who attend will invite unsaved friends and that the unsaved people who are there will discover the living water that only Jesus can give. Please be praying for my friend Yaro. I spent several hours with him this morning and while we didn’t talk about any deep topics, I get the sense that he feels alone and is craving community. Yaro has come to a couple of “gatherings” in the past and I have had a few opportunities to talk to him about the Bible and about my faith. Please pray that Yaro will accept my invitation to come to our house Sunday night and that he will come to understand that Jesus can be a friend like no other who can meet the deepest needs of a person’s heart. We are thankful for a family who contacted us recently after they found our website. They are Christians from Italy whose two sons will be coming to study medicine in February. They will be visiting over the weekend to look at apartments and on Friday night they will be joining us for our English Bible study, for dinner, and maybe to play Catan. Please pray that we will be able to provide a good support system for these two young men as they come to a new country. Pray also for their parents as they prepare for their sons to leave home. **Last week I mentioned the proposed bill that would restrict religious freedom here in Bulgaria. There have been some changes proposed that would make it less restrictive, but it is still problematic. Here is an article with some updated information.
