SCFWB Disaster Response News
Many of our churches are coordinating currently with The SCFWB Disaster Relief board by helping victims of the hurricane and flooding, by donating funds, supplies, and volunteering for services. Thanks to everyone for helping during this time!
There was a good amount of work accomplished in a short time by the team from South Carolina. Thanks for your prayers and support. There is still a great need in Florida for man power.
2019 Couples Retreat
Will be held again at Beach Cove Resort, 4800 S. Ocean Blvd., North Myrtle Beach, SC. The dates are February 15-16, 2019. Our speaker, again this year, is Bro. Jim McComas. He will be singing and sharing his heart with us. His messages in Word and song will be a blessing. We hope to have some bluegrass music this year and some special surprises! $180 for “early-bird-pay-in-full” payment. Otherwise, the cost is $190, with the deposit of $140 due when the names are sent in, and the remaining $50 due upon check in. Also, Pastor, if you have at least FIVE other couples coming from your church, then you and your wife can come for $150. We will need the money and names sent in by Friday, December 14, 2018. Please have your couples make the checks out to “Donnie Miles”.
Andy Moore (Brazil) The ministry in Juiz de Fora, Brazil continues to progress. In July, we had V.B.S. and two teens from our church got saved at youth camp. Currently, our family is in the U.S. and will be here through Christmas. We are reconnectiong with our churches, while our kids attend Christian school for a semester. In our absence the associate pastor, Luiz Carlos, is leading the church and its ministries.
Bobby Poole (Brazil) I was in Sam´s (Ribeirão Preto, Brasil) and a lady walked up to me and said, “Pastor Bobby”. I did not recognize her. Her name was “Rita” and she lived close by the Church we were starting in the rich area of town (where there was no Evangelica Church) I knew her and her family some 30 years ago. Because of high rent, and weak dollar (and furlough) we had to close the work down. I had not seen this lady since closing the Church. She lived too far from where we worked in the Marincek area. I told her that Geneva had passed away and she said she knew and that she attended the funeral. I did not see her but the church was packed and we had people standing. The Lord knows her heart as she is not attending a church at the present time, in part because of distance. Meeting up with this dear lady again made me think of the seed that has been planted in the heart of so many people over these 57 years, since coming to Brazil. Our Churches and workers have sowed a lot of seeds of the Gospel. Please pray that the Lord will give the increase and that we will see many yet come to know our Lord as Saviour.
Carlisle Hanna (India) Please remember Bro. Don Hanna as he leaves for India today. He and Brother Carlisle will return to the US on November 20th. Please remember him in his travels and ministry. Please remember the works in North & South India as well as Nepal.
David Aycock (Brazil) We are gearing up for Christmas activities and presentations. Materials are not always readily available so we normally have to write or translate our Christmas plays. These are opportunities to have new people to attend our special activities. Our Seminary classes are going well and we plan to finish the beginning of December. We are offering membership classes for those who were recently baptized. Thank you South Carolina for your prayers and financial support.
Jonathan/Amy Postlewaite Please pray for our work in the village of Odarne. Over the last several days, there have been some developments that have required wisdom as we have needed to make some changes. Please pray for Mr. and Mrs G. – the family that has hosted us up to this point. While we will continue to visit Mrs. G every week (Mr. G is working out of the country) we feel it is best to relocate the kids’ Bible club and the adult Bible study at this time because of several factors that have come to light. Pray also for our efforts for reach kids through our “Christian values club” and that we will be able to find adults who will be interested in studying the Bible with us. Pray for S, the Christian woman in the village who is our key contact there. Please pray for our Sunday night Bible study as we make a change in the format and location. For the last year, we have been meeting at a coffee shop in another part of the city with one other Christian lady. We have decided to move this meeting to our home and to make it a prayer meeting as well as a Bible study. One problem with a public place is that it limits the amount of praying that can be done at the meeting. Pray that this new format might draw in some of our unsaved friends who are not unfamiliar with the idea of prayer because of their Orthodox background as well as some out-of-church Christians. Please pray for our efforts to minister among both Bulgarian and international students who are studying at the medical university here in Pleven. God has opened many doors over the last several months and we have been able to connect with both Christian and non-Christian students. Pray that we will be able to find ways to encourage and support the Christians and that we will be able to find ways to sow the seeds of the gospel among the non-Christian students.
Matt/Hailie Deckard (Ecuador) Please pray for endurance for our team; as we all will be very busy over the next couple of months, and also safety and prepared hearts of the people that will be coming down to serve with us. firstname.lastname@example.org
Neil/ Mandi Morgan (Spain) We had a visitor at church this past Sunday. She had driven by the church and decided to stop in. She was involved in a cult for the last 20 years and has recently realized the falsehood of that church. Now, she is searching. Please pray that she will come to realize the only true way is that of Jesus. Please also continue to pray for our church members and their witness to their friends and family. Join us in praying specifically for the sister of one of our members who recently lost her job. The job was her excuse for not coming to church. Pray she will attend and that she will find another job quickly that does not interfere with her being able to attend services. email@example.com
Randy/Kris Valandingham (Aiken). God is blessing us here at Rejoice. We are continue to see fruits from our VBS. We are thankful for the families that God has given us here that are faithful in sharing the work and inviting the people they come in contact with. Pray for us as we have a special Sunday August 12th in the am service with
Tim/ Kristi Johnson (Spain) Please pray for the Alpedrete Church as they have their annual business meeting on Sunday, November 11th. Their agenda includes reviewing current ministries of the church, planning the upcoming year’s budget, making plans for outreach activities, etc. Pray that God will give the members unity as they work together to serve the community and carry out the ministry of the church.
