SCFWB Disaster Response News

Many of our churches are coordinating currently with The SCFWB Disaster Relief board by helping victims of the hurricane and flooding, by donating funds, supplies, and volunteering for services. Thanks to everyone for helping during this time!

There was a good amount of work accomplished in a short time by the team from South Carolina. Thanks for your prayers and support. There is still a great need in Florida for man power.

2019 Couples Retreat

Will be held again at Beach Cove Resort, 4800 S. Ocean Blvd., North Myrtle Beach, SC.  The dates are February 15-16, 2019.  Our speaker, again this year, is Bro. Jim McComas.  He will be singing and sharing his heart with us.  His messages in Word and song will be a blessing.  We hope to have some bluegrass music this year and some special surprises! $180 for “early-bird-pay-in-full” payment.  Otherwise, the cost is $190, with the deposit of $140 due when the names are sent in, and the remaining $50 due upon check in. Also, Pastor, if you have at least FIVE other couples coming from your church, then you and your wife can come for $150.   We will need the money and names sent in by Friday, December 14, 2018. Please have your couples make the checks out to “Donnie Miles”. Also, we can no longer take church checks in excess of $200

Andy Moore (Brazil)  The ministry in Juiz de Fora, Brazil continues to progress. In July, we had V.B.S. and two teens from our church got saved at youth camp.  Currently, our family is in the U.S. and will be here through Christmas.  We are reconnectiong with our churches, while our kids attend Christian school for a semester.  In our absence the associate pastor, Luiz Carlos, is leading the church and its ministries.

Bobby Poole (Brazil) I would like to thank the Churches that have been praying for our Marincek Church in Ribeiráo Preto, Brazil.  Please pray that our people will follow the leading of Our Lord and the Church will elect the right person as pastor. Also during the days 12, 13 and 14 of October, the Church will have Children`s meetings. Pray that the Holy Spirit will work in hearts and that these 3 days of meetings will bring glory to our Lord.

Carlisle Hanna (India) Brother Carlisle has said that he looks to return to the US sometime in November.  Please remember him in his travels and ministry. Please remember the works in North & South India as well as Nepal.

David Aycock  (Brazil) We are grateful for your prayers and financial support. Recently a married couple gave their lives to the Lord after an evangelistic Bible study. Pray for their spiritual growth. We have been preparing several new converts and transfers for membership. The construction of the Christian School building continues. Our target is to finish this Fall. We are need of funds, but the Lord is faithful and we believe He provides through His people. If you haven’t yet given toward this project, we trust you will pray about it and give as the Lord leads. Thank you, David and Annette Aycock

Jonathan/Amy Postlewaite Please pray for our continued efforts to reach the city of Pleven by starting Bible studies in various regions in and around the city. While we have been able to make contacts with people who live in different neighborhoods we haven’t seen as much interest in gathering regularly to study the Bible as we would like. Please pray that God will open doors and that in time we will see a church or churches that come out of the meetings that we start. This Sunday, October 28th, we will be hosting another monthly meeting in our home. Please pray that there will be a good turnout. Pray also that some of our friends who have been on the fence about getting together more frequently will decide to take that step with us. Pray for the three international students with whom we get together every week. One of them is G, the Swedish student who accepted Christ earlier this year – he is back in Pleven for a while. The other two are brothers from India who are Christians. For about a year we have had them over every Friday or Saturday to eat dinner and play a board game. A few weeks ago we added a short Bible study to our weekly “program”. We are using a video series with Francis Chan about the book of James and it has gone very well so far. Please pray that our time together will help these three to grow stronger in their faith, and bolder in their witness as they are surrounded by many students from other religious backgrounds and worldviews.

Matt/Hailie Deckard (Ecuador) Please pray for endurance for our team; as we all will be very busy over the next couple of months, and also safety and prepared hearts of the people that will be coming down to serve with us. mattdeckard.10@gmail.com

Neil/ Mandi Morgan (Spain) Neil will be meeting soon with the owner of a gym in a nearby town to discuss the opportunity of doing monthly seminars about a variety of topics. This town has no evangelical church, and we believe the seminars will allow us to begin building relationships with people from the area. Please be in prayer for this meeting and God’s guidance. Also, continue to pray for two members of our church whose families are having many negative things to say about their faith. Pray that these church members will remain encouraged and that God will use them to bring their family members to faith in Christ. nmorgan@fwbgo.com

Randy/Kris Valandingham (Aiken). God is blessing us here at Rejoice. We are continue to see fruits from our VBS. We are thankful for the families that God has given us here that are faithful in sharing the work and inviting the people they come in contact with. Pray for us as we have a special Sunday August 12th in the am service with Preacher Jacob Berry. Thank you for all your prayers and support.

Tim/ Kristi Johnson (Spain) Please pray for the Alpedrete Church as they begin preparations for their Christmas musical this year.  They haven’t been able to confirm a date yet with the local community center, but they are already having rehearsals and making plans.  Pray that the town officials will see the importance of allowing them to use their theater and that it will be available on a date that works well for the majority of church members.  This year’s musical will be called “What is Christmas?”, focusing on the true meaning of Christmas.

Mirial Gainer (Japan) I will continue wearing the bone fusion stimulator 4 hours each day for 6 more months. Thankfully, I can begin to wean off the neck brace which I had been wearing 24/7. The swelling hasn’t completely gone and I’m still having some pain. The decompression seems to have been successful in relieving pain and numbness in my hands. The fusion will take months to heal.

*Rev. James Sanders had the Kho clear implant put in today. Pray for quick healing and full operation of this vital piece of equipment.
