SCFWB Disaster Response News

Many of our churches are coordinating currently with The SCFWB Disaster Relief board by helping victims of the hurricane and flooding, by donating funds, supplies, and volunteering for services. Thanks to everyone for helping during this time!

The South Carolina Conference will be held meeting this Friday at 7pm (Meal at 5:30) at First FWB Church Darlington and a Mission luncheon Friday at 11am at the Thunderbird Restaurant.

Andy Moore (Brazil)  The ministry in Juiz de Fora, Brazil continues to progress. In July, we had V.B.S. and two teens from our church got saved at youth camp.  Currently, our family is in the U.S. and will be here through Christmas.  We are reconnectiong with our churches, while our kids attend Christian school for a semester.  In our absence the associate pastor, Luiz Carlos, is leading the church and its ministries.

Bobby Poole (Brazil) I would like to thank the Churches that have been praying for our Marincek Church in Ribeiráo Preto, Brazil.  Our business meeting, did not turn out with the Church in unity. The Church Board recommended Pastor Myron, a member of the First FWB Church, who has been involved a number of years in the ministry, but some liked another lay preacher, who has been preaching, during the time I was away in the States. I really was not expecting this, but it happen. The vote between the two was almost tied.  And since the vote was so close, we decided to put off the election of a new pastor until Nov. 10, 2018, when we will have our yearly business meeting. Please pray that our people will follow the leading of Our Lord and the Church will elect the right person as pastor. Also during the days 12, 13 and 14 of October, the Church will have Children`s meetings. Pray that the Holy Spirit will work in hearts and that these 3 days of meetings will bring glory to our Lord.

Carlisle Hanna (India) Brother Carlisle has said that he looks to return to the US sometime in November.  Please remember him in his travels and ministry. Please remember the works in North & South India as well as Nepal.

David Aycock  (Brazil) We are grateful for your prayers and financial support. Recently a married couple gave their lives to the Lord after an evangelistic Bible study. Pray for their spiritual growth. We have been preparing several new converts and transfers for membership. The construction of the Christian School building continues. Our target is to finish this Fall. We are need of funds, but the Lord is faithful and we believe He provides through His people. If you haven’t yet given toward this project, we trust you will pray about it and give as the Lord leads. Thank you, David and Annette Aycock

Jonathan/Amy Postlewaite Pray for the D family. After not seeing them for a while, they came to our monthly “gathering” last Sunday night. They seem very interested in the Bible and the wife has told Amy in the past that she has decided that she does believe in God although there is much that she is not sure of. We are really praying that we can convince them to meet more regularly for Bible studies with us and that the whole family will come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Praise God for doors that are opening in the village of Odarne. This is one of the villages that we have continued to visit after our week-long campaign with Child Evangelism Fellowship. We have had a good turn out for the kids’ Bible club each week and last Saturday we talked with a woman who is a believer and who wants someone to come to the village in order to lead something for adults. The family who has let us use their yard for the kids’ club is also interested. I will be traveling this weekend, so our plan is to go back next weekend to start a Bible study with these people and anyone else who is interested. Please pray that through these meetings we will be able to see a church planted in this village. Pray that God will give us wisdom related to a meeting space. The success that we have seen without English clubs has shown us that it might be time to find something more permanent that will afford us more flexibility for both these clubs and for future church-related activities. We have an option available that is in a good location and that offers the possibilities to expand if the need arises. Please pray that God will give us wisdom in the regard and that He will help us to know what is the best thing to do moving forward.

Matt/Hailie Deckard (Ecuador) Please pray for endurance for our team; as we all will be very busy over the next couple of months, and also safety and prepared hearts of the people that will be coming down to serve with us. mattdeckard.10@gmail.com

Neil/ Mandi Morgan (Spain) Our friend Jeff arrived Friday and conducted nutrition and training seminars Friday night and Saturday night. We had one of our English students translate for him so that he could get to know Jeff. The seminars went very well. Thank you all for praying for Jeff’s safe arrival and for these outreaches. The owner of the gym in a neighboring town is very interested in having more seminars about a range of topics. We are so excited that God is opening this door. Please be in prayer for this opportunity and for Neil as he and the gym owner will meet soon to discuss this possibility. Also, the student who translated had the opportunity to hear the gospel and seems to be really thinking about the things he heard. Please pray for him. Finally, please continue to pray for our church and for a new location. nmorgan@fwbgo.com

Randy/Kris Valandingham (Aiken). God is blessing us here at Rejoice. We are continue to see fruits from our VBS. We are thankful for the families that God has given us here that are faithful in sharing the work and inviting the people they come in contact with. Pray for us as we have a special Sunday August 12th in the am service with Preacher Jacob Berry. Thank you for all your prayers and support.

Tim/ Kristi Johnson (Spain)

We continue to travel to visit our supporting churches both here in South Carolina, as well as in other parts of the country.  Last weekend we were in the area of North Carolina that was hardest hit by Hurricane Florence.  This coming weekend, we will be traveling to Tennessee to speak at the World Missions Conference at Welch College.  God has blessed us greatly while we have travelled over 10,000 miles in these past three months.

Mirial Gainer (Japan) I will continue wearing the bone fusion stimulator 4 hours each day for 6 more months. Thankfully, I can begin to wean off the neck brace which I had been wearing 24/7. The swelling hasn’t completely gone and I’m still having some pain. The decompression seems to have been successful in relieving pain and numbness in my hands. The fusion will take months to heal.

*Rev. Bennie Turner (Eastern Conference) continues to receive regular dialysis please continue to remember him in prayer.
