SCFWB Weekly Vol 5 No 32
August 29, 2018
The SC WAC Retreat will be held September 7th and 8th at White Oak Conference Center in Winnsboro. Kristi Johnson will be our guest speaker and we have an exciting time planned for our ladies. We will have a ‘gift card shower’ for their family at the retreat. Gift cards may be purchased at Walmart, Target, and Restaurants. These will be greatly appreciated by the Johnson’s as they are home and will benefit them with their needs as Alejandro will be a freshman at Welch College this coming fall. Mark your calendars to attend the retreat and more information will be available at the state women’s meeting.
The $25 registration fee for the South Carolina can be sent to the ATTN: of Cathy Logan, 1580 Potter Rd, Lancaster, SC, 29720 by July 30th. The remainder of $50 will be paid upon arrival at White Oaks Conference Center on September 7th.

Andy Moore (Brazil) This year is shaping up to be a great year for our church. We have started several new ministries, our attendence has picked up, and we are having a great spirit in our meetings and services. Thank you for your prayers and support of the ministry here in Juiz de Fora, Brazil.
Bobby Poole (Brazil) The leadership of the First FWB Church in Ribeirão is meeting with the Directory of the Marincek Church the middle of this week. One of the pastors at the First Church is willing to go in as pastor of the Marincek Church. Please ask prayer for this meeting and everyone involved. I will be returning to Brasil on the 11 of September. Please pray for my return trip. I hope to visit all of our churches and try to encourage our pastors and lay leaders. As Free Will Baptists, we have made a difference, for the glory of our Lord. Thousands have heard the Gospel and lives have been changed. The seed of the Gospel has been sowed, watered and the Lord is giving the increase!! Praise His name!
Carlisle Hanna (India) Brother Carlisle has arrived back in India. Please pray for his VISA renewal efforts. Please remember the works in North & South India as well as Nepal.
David Aycock (Brazil) We are grateful for your prayers and financial support. Recently a married couple gave their lives to the Lord after an evangelistic Bible study. Pray for their spiritual growth. We have been preparing several new converts and transfers for membership. The construction of the Christian School building continues. Our target is to finish this Fall. We are need of funds, but the Lord is faithful and we believe He provides through His people. If you haven’t yet given toward this project, we trust you will pray about it and give as the Lord leads. Thank you, David and Annette Aycock
Jonathan/Amy Postlewaite As I write this, we are currently in the middle of another exciting opportunity to share the gospel with children through partnering with the Bulgarian division of Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF). Every day this week, we are traveling with another Christian couple from Sofia to do an open-air VBS-type event at three different villages/small towns just outside our city NONE of these locations have any kind of church presence. At every stop, the kids learn a Bible story and verse and participate in games and crafts. It has been so exciting the faces of so many children light up as they hear Bible stories and truths for the first time in their lives! Please be praying for this campaign. After our outreach event a little over a week ago, I was able to connect via Facebook with H, a man who attended with his girlfriend. He has shown interest in what we do and said he would like to get together for coffee some time soon. Please pray that I will be able to sit down with him soon and begin a relationship with him through which I can help him grow closer to Christ. In a few weeks we will launch an adult English club that will meet in a rented space in the city. We will start with an informational meeting on Wednesday, Sept 12th. Please pray that this will be another way through which we can connect with people and eventually introduce them to the gospel.
Matt/Hailie Deckard (Ecuador) Please pray for endurance for our team; as we all will be very busy over the next couple of months, and also safety and prepared hearts of the people that will be coming down to serve with us. firstname.lastname@example.org
Neil/ Mandi Morgan (Spain) We are so thankful for two volunteers from our church to help teach a kids’ Sunday School class. Please pray as we meet to organize and prepare to start this new ministry in September. Also, we are still searching for a new location for the church to rent. Please be in prayer for this need.
Randy/Kris Valandingham (Aiken). God is blessing us here at Rejoice. We are continue to see fruits from our VBS. We are thankful for the families that God has given us here that are faithful in sharing the work and inviting the people they come in contact with. Pray for us as we have a special Sunday August 12th in the am service with Preacher Jacob Berry. Thank you for all your prayers and support.

Mirial Gainer (Japan) I will continue wearing the bone fusion stimulator 4 hours each day for 6 more months. Thankfully, I can begin to wean off the neck brace which I had been wearing 24/7. The swelling hasn’t completely gone and I’m still having some pain. The decompression seems to have been successful in relieving pain and numbness in my hands. The fusion will take months to heal.

What’s Your Camera Setting?
Quickly get your phone out and open the camera app. It should have different settings or modes to take pictures with. Mine has Photo, Square, Portrait, and Pano. When I switch from mode to mode I can see objects in the picture differently.
Photo is the normal setting, no frills no effects just plain, like the rest of the world’s camera. We often look at God, and our circumstances the same way the rest of the world does. It’s no wonder many of us are overcome by the cares of this life.
Square is a setting that cuts out items to make the picture dimensionally correct. It makes the photo neat and fit into a particular perspective. That’s a lot like people who have a rigid idea of how the world works. They only look at things from this one setting and in doing so their perspective is neat and orderly. The problem is that this way of looking at life only works if there are no problems. However, when problems arise “and they always do”
They aren’t ready for it and their world is shaken.
Portrait this mode is all about focus. The camera focuses on the main object and though all other items are in view, the focus is on the main thing. When problems and circumstances arise we need to be focusing on Jesus. The other things can and should be still in view but we need to keep the main thing the main thing.
Pano this one is really cool. It requires a little level of skill to get it right but if you can master it, it can produce some of the best pictures. The camera must have a level perspective, while being moved from left to right. It takes pictures of up to 180 degrees and provides a wonderful perspective. This is a lot like how God sees things, from beginning to end. Wisdom allows people to look ahead in time and make an accurate inference as to what may take place. The further down the road we can look the better equipped we are to make good choices.
