Andy Moore (Brazil) This November, our church celebrated 8 years of ministry here in Juiz de Fora, Brazil. Please pray for God´s power on the service and for the continuing ministry here in this spiritually needy city of over 550,000 souls. –Andy Moore and family
Bobby Poole (Brazil) On New year celebrations, being a Sunday, we had regular services and after the night service we had a meal and then to close out the old year and enter the new, we had songs, testimonies and then held hands for prayer. The service was a blessing to me. On New Year´s day, John and I went to a funeral. The father of two young men that attended the First Church, 35 or so years ago. I met folks that I have not seen for about this number of years. One thing that caught my attention was, a number of those that, thanked me for the “seed” that was planted, many years ago, in their hearts! Quite a few mentioned what a blessing the youth camps were to them, with many accepting the Lord, as Saviour, at the Camps! Only the Lord know how many seed that has been planted, others watered, and the Lord gave the increase! I pray that all of the Lord´s people will be blessed and experience His blessings on their families, their churches and their work, during this new year!
Carlisle Hanna (India) Please remember Bro. Carlisle as he is currently in India Also please be in prayerful consideration of Bro. Carlisle’s deficit account as well as the ongoing ministry in India.
David Aycock (Brazil) We are hoping to complete the construction of the Christian School by July of 2018. We need $65,000 to restart the construction after a pause after we depleted our funds. Please continue to pray with us and give as the Lord directs. Annette and I are grateful for you partnering with us. Pray for the following prayer requests: 1) funding for the construction of the Christian School, 2) six students who are studying Old Testament Survey, 3) three young people who are doing our discipleship class and 4) Rodney (our son-in-law) is providing an evangelistic English class for adults and has reached several unsaved adults.
Jonathan/Amy Postlewaite- As Amy and I think about all of the things we would like to see happen throughout 2018 we know that making more connections with people will be one of the keys to success. Please pray that God will help us to establish meaningful relationships with the various people with whom we come into contact throughout the week. Pray that we will have the wisdom to know what to say and boldness to speak the truth about salvation in Jesus Christ. Pray also that throughout the coming months we will be able to establish some connections that will be useful for various outreach efforts we would like to do. Pray for instance that we can find some contacts who will help us to one day do something at a school or in a village, or that we will be able to find coffee shop owners who might one day let us hold a discussion about a certain topic related to faith. We have already started to make concrete plans for short term groups coming in both March and August. Both of these groups will be able to contribute to our ministry here in Bulgaria and we are very excited about them coming. Please pray that even now God will begin preparing their hearts for their time here and that he would be preparing the hearts of the people with whom they will come into contact while they are here.
Matt/Hailie Deckard (Ecuador) Greetings from Sunny or Rainy (depending upon the time of day) Ecuador. We want to first say thank you all for praying for us as we are in language school! The Lord certainly is blessing here as we continue our time in full time study! He is also opening doors for us to share with our language teachers as well. Just this week I, Matt, have had the opportunity to talk with my professor about the church, persecution, and various other topics in the New Testament. Also, next week we, along with two teammates also in language school, have the opportunity to have our professors in our home for Thanksgiving to share this wonderful part of our culture with them. Please pray that God would produce fruit from these opportunities. email@example.com

Randy/Kris Valandingham (Aiken). Pray for them as they continue to minister in Aiken.
Tim/ Kristi Johnson (Spain) Our Christmas holidays ended on January 6th with our “Three Kings’ Day” celebration. We were so thankful to have opportunities during the holidays to spend extra time with some of our contacts and also believers in our church. Please pray for several of our unsaved friends (family members of people in our church) who are facing difficult health issues these days. Each of them has had the opportunity to hear the Gospel presented both in our church services and also by their loved ones. Pray that God will use the Word that has been planted in their hearts to challenge them to make a decision for Christ.

Are You Fit to Lead?
Mt 20:20 ¶ Then came to him the mother of Zebedee’s children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him. 21 And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom. 22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able. 23 And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father. 24 And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brethren. 25 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. 26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; 27 And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: 28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
What do you think of when you hear the word leader? Do you think of prestige, honor and glory, maybe the satisfaction of making all the decisions? If this is your idea of what leadership is then you are probably not fit for leadership in the church. So it being January and a time when many people are getting fit, I think it is time for some spiritual fitness. Here are some signs that you are not fit to lead.
- If you think you are where you are because of your own capacity.
- If you look at your life and the dominant thought is that you deserve to be here because you worked so hard, then you aren’t fit to lead
- This was kind of the problem the disciples had with James and John. Mom wanted them to be in the top two positions of leadership. She probably felt that they had worked hard and deserved it.
- Lu 14:11 For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
- If you are not grounded in the word.
- Eph 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
- If you are not willing to serve
- 26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; 27 And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: 28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
