SCFWB Disaster Response News

The effects of massive rain fall both here and in North Carolina have our local river systems flooding their banks. The elevated river levels are flooding many homes. SCFWB Disaster Response is coordinating with various other agencies to help with relief efforts as the water subsides. There will likely be many opportunities for groups to do Mud outs over the next 2 months. If you or your church would like to give toward this ministry make your check payable to SC State Office and earmark it for SC Disaster Response

Missions

Andy Moore (Brazil)  The ministry in Juiz de Fora, Brazil continues to progress. In July, we had V.B.S. and two teens from our church got saved at youth camp.  Currently, our family is in the U.S. and will be here through Christmas.  We are reconnectiong with our churches, while our kids attend Christian school for a semester.  In our absence the associate pastor, Luiz Carlos, is leading the church and its ministries.

Bobby Poole (Brazil) The leadership of the First FWB Church in Ribeirão is meeting with the Directory of the Marincek Church the middle of this week. One of the pastors at the First Church is willing to go in as pastor of the Marincek Church. Please ask prayer for this meeting and everyone involved. I will be returning to Brasil on the 11 of September. Please pray for my return trip. I hope to visit all of our churches and try to encourage our pastors and lay leaders. As Free Will Baptists, we have made a difference, for the glory of our Lord. Thousands have heard the Gospel and lives have been changed. The seed of the Gospel has been sowed, watered and the Lord is giving the increase!! Praise His name!

Carlisle Hanna (India) Brother Carlisle has arrived back in India. His VISA was granted and we are praising The Lord the giver of every good and perfect gift. Please remember the works in North & South India as well as Nepal.

David Aycock  (Brazil) We are grateful for your prayers and financial support. Recently a married couple gave their lives to the Lord after an evangelistic Bible study. Pray for their spiritual growth. We have been preparing several new converts and transfers for membership. The construction of the Christian School building continues. Our target is to finish this Fall. We are need of funds, but the Lord is faithful and we believe He provides through His people. If you haven’t yet given toward this project, we trust you will pray about it and give as the Lord leads. Thank you, David and Annette Aycock

Jonathan/Amy Postlewaite . This Sunday we will be starting back with our monthly “gathering”. We are starting a series of discovery Bible studies called “Seven Stories of Hope”. Please pray that our non-Christian friends will accept the invitation to come and that God will use our time together to help them understand that only in Christ can real hope be found. Pray for our weekly English clubs that we started a couple of weeks ago. We have been pleased with the turnout for both the beginner and advanced group which meet on Wednesday night and tomorrow morning Amy will meet with a group of ladies in our home. We are also planning to resume the kids’ English club in a few weeks. Please pray that God will give us wisdom as we try to manage issues related to the meeting space and the meeting time. Pray also that that we will find opportunities to share our faith with the new contacts that we are making through this endeavor. Please pray for T, my language tutor who gives me lessons twice a week via Skype. He lives in Plovdiv, which is in the southern part of the country. He knows what work I do and has helped me with several of my sermons. Please pray that through our lessons and conversations I will be able to help T to understand the truth about salvation which can only be found in Christ.

Matt/Hailie Deckard (Ecuador) Please pray for endurance for our team; as we all will be very busy over the next couple of months, and also safety and prepared hearts of the people that will be coming down to serve with us. mattdeckard.10@gmail.com

Neil/ Mandi Morgan (Spain) We started this year’s English class this past Monday. Most of our students from last year are returning and we have at least one new one. Please pray for this class and for the relationships we are able to build with these students. Mandi has started meeting with a new believer for discipleship classes every week. This sister in Christ has a real hunger for the word of the Lord. It is such a blessing to see her grow and hear how the Lord is working in the lives of those around her. She has been witnessing to her mom who was adamantly against all that her daughter was telling her. Her mom is now saying that she is considering visiting our church one Sunday. Please be in prayer for our friend and her mom.

We are in the final stages of preparation for an outreach event at two different gyms in the area. One of the gyms is in our town of Alcalá de Henares and the other is in a nearby town that has no evangelical church. We are praying these events will connect us with many unbelievers and provide us the opportunity to share Christ with them. nmorgan@fwbgo.com

Randy/Kris Valandingham (Aiken). God is blessing us here at Rejoice. We are continue to see fruits from our VBS. We are thankful for the families that God has given us here that are faithful in sharing the work and inviting the people they come in contact with. Pray for us as we have a special Sunday August 12th in the am service with Preacher Jacob Berry. Thank you for all your prayers and support.

Tim/ Kristi Johnson (Spain)

September 7-8 People in Spain are getting back to “normal” life again after their vacation month.  Children and teens have started back to school and ministries are resuming.  This week in the Alpedrete Church, there will be a visit to the nursing home, ladies’ prayer time, and also the youth group will be having a meeting and worship time with a sister church in Madrid.  Ask God to use these events to encourage believers and bring unsaved contacts to a relationship with Him.

Mirial Gainer (Japan) I will continue wearing the bone fusion stimulator 4 hours each day for 6 more months. Thankfully, I can begin to wean off the neck brace which I had been wearing 24/7. The swelling hasn’t completely gone and I’m still having some pain. The decompression seems to have been successful in relieving pain and numbness in my hands. The fusion will take months to heal.

Click OK and Roll On

Jas 5:11 Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

Preachers tend to glean inspiration from any place they can get it. We should all come with a disclaimer that says; WARNING, Any interaction with the preacher can and will likely result in you being used as a sermon illustration.

This week was one such occasion. While attending the dentist’s office for a cleaning, my Hygienist (whom our family attends church with) took X-rays of my teeth. When the x-rays were finished I noticed an error message appear on her computer screen. I asked if she needed to take them again and she promptly said “No I just click ok and roll on, just like in life.”

This got me to thinking, when it comes to the things that we can’t change, once we have prayed about them and left them in God’s hands, let’s just click OK and roll on. We understand from the Apostle James, that this way of dealing with life is called endurance, and there is happiness associated with it.
