Andy Moore (Brazil)  Our church here in Juiz de Fora, Brazil was priveleged to host the annual, regional fellowship of Brazilian FWB churches.  For most, it was the first time they had seen our new church building.  There were more than 150 participants from the region.  Our hearts were stirred by the preaching of God’s Word and through the God honoring music.

Please continue to pray for the movement of FWB to expand throughout  Brazil.

Bobby Poole (Brazil) Bro. Chris, thanks for the Update. I am doing fine and able to still work with the Church in Marincek. But I feel it is time for me to step down from the Pastor´s role. Please ask our people to pray for the Church leadership as we start the process of getting the right person to take my place. The First Church has been sending different ones over to help with the preaching. Now I am preaching only on the first Sunday of the month but am still teaching the Adult SS class and leading the Wedesday prayer meeting. The Lord has been so very good to me.

Carlisle Hanna (India) Bro. Carlisle is currently stateside. Please pray for him and the work in India

David Aycock  (Brazil) Thank you for your prayers! We completed the two Bible College level courses – Church History II and How to Study the Bible – we offered for this semester. It has been gratifying to see the interest and spiritual growth our students manifested during the courses. We are preparing a young man João Paulo and a married couple Fernando and Paula for church membership. Pray for the salvation of an eighty year old man named Carlos who in his latter years has lost family and home due to wrong choices he has made throughout his life. We continue to build the Christian School building. The Lord has provided thus far. Would you consider giving a special offering for this cause? May God continue to bless, David and Annette

Jonathan/Amy Postlewaite – Our city is divided into several “neighborhoods”. Each of these neighborhood contains several thousand people. We would like to see Bible studies and home groups started in these areas as a way to reach more people in the entire city. Ms K., a Christian widow who has been a part of a Bible study since earlier this year, lives in one of these neighborhoods and is excited about our plan to transition from a Bible study at our house to one that is closer to her neighborhood. We hope that this will make it more likely that some of her unsaved friends and neighbors will join us. Please pray that God will help us to find “people of peace” (Luke 10:6) in each of these areas who will help us to find others with whom we discuss the Bible and share the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ.

Matt/Hailie Deckard (Ecuador) Are in Ecuador and are getting settled in. Pray for them as they transition into ministry there.mattdeckard.10@gmail.com

Neil/ Mandi Morgan (Spain) Thanks so much for your prayers for the growth of the Esperanza Church. They are currently in need of supplies for Sunday School as well as more room for their people to meet!

Randy/Kris Valandingham (Aiken).  Will be going in to get results from a CAT scan done last week on a spot of cancer. Pray for favorable results.

Tim/ Kristi Johnson (Spain) We are happy to have our family back together again, after Alejandro’s time in the States this summer for the  “Truth and Peace” conference.  We are trying to begin planning for a new Sunday School curriculum, evangelistic events, and Bible studies this Fall.  Please pray that God will guide us as we seek to help the Alpedrete Church as they grow and mature and take over leadership of the work.

Mirial Gainer (Japan) Continues to care for her mother. Please remember them both in prayer

* Sister Faye Miles (Wife of Rev. Tony Miles) her tumors have increased in size a little and one is effecting her right kidney. They might have to put in a stint but Dr. is concerned it might not be possible to get to area. He said nephrostomy tube might be what he will do and she wears a bag on her leg. Pray that next couple of treatments will begin to shrink tumors. We still need prayers for God’s Will in our lives.  We take one day at a time. Bro. Tony Miles

* Rev. Paul Reid (Beaver Creek) From Sis. Mary. Paul is doing better at this time. Please continue to remember them in prayer.

*Rev. Bennie Turner (Eastern Conference) continues to receive regular dialysis. Please remember him in prayer.

First Time Visitors and Sunday School

Now I realize it’s probably not all that often that first time visitors come early enough for Sunday School, but it does happen. When it does our churches need to be ready, especially if the visitors bring their children with them.

Churches with pre-Sunday School Assembly- does your church assemble before Sunday School? Its fine if they do, but one of the most awkward times for first time visitors is when assembly dismisses. Everybody is going to their respective classes, but the family of 5 with three children from ages 6-14 have no idea where to go.

Churches with no pre-Sunday School Assembly– Does everybody in your Sunday School just go straight to their classes? That’s good too. Whatever works for your people. The one drawback is the potential for first time visitors to be wandering around trying to figure out where to go and what to do.

I personally have seen both of these methods work really well, and then I have seen them fail miserably. They key to preventing a really awkward situation resulting in the visiting family leaving with a bad taste in their mouth depends completely on the helpfulness of your people. Whether ushers, Sunday school teachers or just the (Friendly) people of your church someone needs to be on the look out for the visiting family. This may require actually appointing specific people as well as training them for this ministry. Its always a good thing for visitors to be greeted by friendly people and to have someone help them get to the appropriate classes, take them by the coffee pot or donut table and point out the restroom along the way, above all else smile and be Christ like!
