Andy Moore (Brazil)  Our church here in Juiz de Fora, Brazil was priveleged to host the annual, regional fellowship of Brazilian FWB churches.  For most, it was the first time they had seen our new church building.  There were more than 150 participants from the region.  Our hearts were stirred by the preaching of God’s Word and through the God honoring music.

Please continue to pray for the movement of FWB to expand throughout  Brazil.

Bobby Poole (Brazil) The First FWB Church of Ribeirão Preto, baptized 20 new converts recently.  John has conducted 5 weddings, so far this year and at this point, they will have 7 babies born, this year, in the Church family. The Church, also is helping, with preachers, the Marincek Church. John does not want me to overload myself (at this point, I am doing fine, health wise). Thanks for your prayers.

David Aycock  (Brazil) Thank you for your prayers! We completed the two Bible College level courses – Church History II and How to Study the Bible – we offered for this semester. It has been gratifying to see the interest and spiritual growth our students manifested during the courses. We are preparing a young man João Paulo and a married couple Fernando and Paula for church membership. Pray for the salvation of an eighty year old man named Carlos who in his latter years has lost family and home due to wrong choices he has made throughout his life. We continue to build the Christian School building. The Lord has provided thus far. Would you consider giving a special offering for this cause? May God continue to bless, David and Annette

A group of college students from America is helping them in this outreach event. In a little over a week, we will be going to our first of two camps. Amy and I will ministering in various ways at both camps. Please pray for us as we spend the next week getting all of our lessons and plans ready for our time at the camps and pray that the kids who come to the camp will learn more about Jesus and that those who don’t know him as their Savior and Lord will do so during their week of camp.

Disaster Relief: A Ministry of The Early Church

Ac 11:27 ¶ And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch. 28 And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar. 29 Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea: 30 Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul. (KJV)

Most of us believe the early church is the closest representation as to what the church should be. IE: the days of the early church were not far removed from the ministry of Jesus. The Apostles were present to help guide them. The Holy Spirit seemed to be working tremendously in the lives ordinary believers, and God was adding to the church daily such as should be saved.

We see here in Acts 11 an example of one important ministry of the early church (Disaster Relief).

The Dearth or Famine occurred according to historical writers likely in 42 A.D. There were massive shortages of food and many people died. (But the Church was ready) Through the help of the Holy Spirit God’s people came together to do the following things:

  1. Store up for the disaster ahead. The church determined to send relief for a disaster that had not yet occurred. V28
  2. No one was exempt. Then the disciples, every man V29
  3. They gave what they were able to give. according to his ability V29
  4. They Sent Relief. They provided assistance to those in need, by trusting many of their goods to people who had the means to distribute it to the victims. V30

The SCFWB Disaster Relief Board realizes the importance of this vital ministry and would like to share it with your church or men’s group. We have several Field representatives. To schedule a service time please contact chris@scfwb.com
