 Missions

Andy Moore (Brazil)  This new year got off to a great start.  We had a watchnight service at our church with 40 people in which we prayed into the new year.  We are preparing this month for our first baptismal service since moving into our new building and we have recently started a new Sunday school class. Thank you for our prayers as we head into 2017!

Bobby Poole (Brazil) Should a Christian have “Pride”? Some might misunderstand “Pride” so I will use the word “Thankful”! Geneva and I started the First FWB Church in Ribeirão in 1962. Today it is pastored by our son, John. During December the Church Choir gave 10 presentations! According to the person responsible for “Evangelism” in the Church, during December a group of 150 people distributed some 4,000 invitations for their Christmas program and gave out over 7,000 Gospel tracts. I´m “proud”, no, I rather use, “I´m thankful”. The First Church touched the lives of hundreds of people during December. Praise the Lord!

Carlisle Hanna (India) was granted an extension on his visa until February 17, 2017 He is Currently on his way back to the US from India. Please pray for safe travel.

We had many first time visitors. Fernando came forward two Sundays ago wanting to give his life to Christ. Pray for his spiritual growth. Thank you for your prayers and financial support. Please continue to pray and consider giving toward the construction of our Christian school. We need your help! David and Annette

Hail to the Chief

Lyrics to the anthem of the President

Hail to the Chief we have chosen for the nation, Hail to the Chief! We salute him, one and all. Hail to the Chief, as we pledge cooperation In proud fulfillment of a great, noble call. Yours is the aim to make this grand country grander, This you will do, that’s our strong, firm belief. Hail to the one we selected as commander, Hail to the President! Hail to the Chief!

In a few short days the inauguration of our next President will take place. But 2000 years ago Zion there was a Chief cornerstone laid and his name is Jesus.

1Pe 2:6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.

1Pe 5:4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

Peter in all of recorded scripture seems to be the only who refers to Christ as Chief. That is not to say that all others failed to give God proper due, but, simply to show that Peter had a unique way of looking at Christ.

Chief- The most important element or ingredient- obviously that applies to our Lord. He is the chief ingredient of Salvation, the chief element of our peace, our Joy.

Chief- The person with the highest authority- Don’t think of the trinity as some hierarchy, but simply that of 1, God manifested in three persons. The Captain of our salvation, the blessed and only potentate, Jesus by the name that is above all names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow and every tongue confess.
