They have some 150 registered for this Retreat. It will be at Camp Evangelandia in Jaboticabal.

A TREMENDOUS amount of work and financial effort goes into this annual meeting so pray for its success and for the security of the people attending. 3. Numerous Pastors have upcoming Baptismal Services (Glory!). This month’s requests also shared the need for 15 more land lots and church buildings / meeting places (Some of which are churches evangelizing their community to build other churches- Glory). 4. Other requests include health issues, family issues (Yes, our Pastors and workers are human), and the need for water pumps and latrines. Thank You for your Prayers- They really do make a difference!

Familiar to a Fault

It seems to me that we have a tendency once we become familiar with something, that we take it for granted. This happens with our families, which explains why we can deal with the most inconsiderate people on the planet on a daily basis (The General Public) and treat them with kindness and dignity, but often we treat those to whom we love the most (Our Family) in the opposite fashion. It also happens with speech when we become familiar with the slang use of a term we often forget its original meaning; such as the word awful. In its original form it meant full of awe, but now it is used to describe something bad. This happens with our hymnal as well. We sing songs so familiar to us that we can spew them out in melodic fashion devoid from its meaning. We can sing I surrender all, without surrendering anything.

Finally we become familiar with biblical phrases and they have lost their meaning to us.

Have you ever pondered on the following familiar phrases?

  1. Christ in you, the hope of glory
  2. Able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think,
  3. Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
  4. Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation
  5. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

There hundreds more that we know but do not ponder upon. I leave you with the admonition of the Apostle Paul,  Php 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
