"Helping Those Who Help Others"

2018 SCWAC State Meeting

Hope this letter finds you all doing well. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at our 2018 South Carolina Women Active for Christ state meeting. We have many exciting opportunities to participate in 2018 and it is my prayer that you make an intentional effort to join us in our meetings.

The SC WAC State Meeting will be held March 17th at Fairview Free Will Baptist Church in Spartanburg. The address is 2058 Chesnee Hwy. Registration will begin Saturday at 9:00 a.m. Hotel Accommodations are as follows: Comfort Inn and Suites, ($89), 154 Candlenut Lane, Spartanburg, SC, 29316, 864-814-2001 (mention Turning Point Church Rate). This year we are going to honor Sherwood and Vada Lee. They served for many years in Cote d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) and he was privileged to return to Cote d’Ivoire last spring to renew old friendships and see how the work had progressed since he and Vada had left the place of their former missionary days. I was impressed this summer at the National Association in Louisville, Kentucky to ask him to come and share with us all the changes he was able to observe during the time period he had been back in the states. My husband and I were able to listen to the stories he shared with us about his return to his former mission station and rejoice with him the changes he had seen firsthand. Joel 1:3 encourages us to, “tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.” We have a wonderful opportunity to honor the Lee’s and thank them for the time they served in Cote d’Ivoire and allow him to share with us the observations he was able to witness from sharing the gospel message many years ago and the changes he was able to see this last spring, ‘as each generation has passed on to their children the gospel message’. A card of appreciation to Sherwood and Vada would be appropriate to thank them for their time of service as we honor them on this day.

South Carolina has several students who have been accepted to serve this coming summer in different mission stations. An offering will be taken to help these students with their financial goals. We want to always be supportive of investing in the lives of the young people in our state as they seek to follow the Lord in these areas of service.

The SC WAC Retreat will be held September 7th and 8th at White Oak Conference Center in Winnsboro. Kristi Johnson will be our guest speaker and we have an exciting time planned for our ladies. We will have a ‘Card Shower’ for the Johnson’s at the retreat. These will enable their family to purchase personal items, groceries, and meals. The cards can be purchased at Target, Walmart, and any restaurant. These will be greatly appreciated especially since Alejandro will be a Freshman at Welch College in the fall.  More information will be available at our state meeting in March.

I appreciate each of you and the remarkable things you do to support our ministry and the missionaries. I pray God will continue to bless us as we work together to accomplish great things for Him.
